{r}    Who Are We? The Region One Education Service Center works together with school districts in a seven county area of South Texas-from Brownsville to Laredo.  Region one ESC works with all segments of our society from early childhood to our adult learners. We work with school districts to improve student and adult academic performance, we help school districts work efficiently and effectively, and we carry out projects of the Texas Education Commissioner and the Texas Legislature.   What Are We About? One of the many programs we have at the Region One is the Adult Education Program.  This program offers classes to individuals 16 years and older who want to earn their GED or learn English.  Our goal at the Adult Education Program is to provide educational opportunities for adults like you who wish to improve their literacy skills, and ultimately your future. Every person has different reasons for why they want to earn their GED or attend English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.  Most of the time reasons have been a lot to do with wanting a better quality of life for themselves and their families. {g} How Can We Help You? The Adult Education Program can help you with whatever goal you have set:             - Earning your GED             - Improving your English speaking, reading, and writing skills                                                   or                                                     - Learning English to prepare for Citizenship test The Region One Education Service Center, Adult Education Program can help you meet these goals through these programs           - General Educational Development (GED)              - Adult Basic Education (ABE)              - English as a Second Language (ESL)                {4}                        Eligibility Requirements To enroll in the Region One Adult Education Program, the following guidlines must be met:              - Provide a valid  form of identification              - Meet the following are requirements:                                                                    * Be at least 18 years of age or                           * Be 17 years of age with a school withdrawal letter and parental consent, or                           * Be 16 years of age with a court order, school withdrawal letter, and parental consent.   {r}   When Do Classes Begin? The Adult Education Program has year-round enrollment. This means that you can get started as soon as you would like.   How Much Are The Classes? There is no charge for our classes!  All classes are open and available to you!
